Furniture and Mattress Removal: What We Need to Know
Plan bulky-item removal around the items, access, loading, and agreed disposal scope.
In This Guide
A sofa at the curb and the same sofa inside an upstairs apartment are different hauling jobs. Tell us which pieces need removal, where they are, and what the route out looks like. Simply can discuss crew-loaded furniture and bulky-item removal as part of an agreed hauling quote.
List the pieces, not just “a few things”
Include quantities and approximate sizes: a sofa, a mattress and foundation, two dressers, or the contents of several rooms. Photos help show the bulk and condition. Tell us about pieces that may need special handling, restricted access, or a separate acceptance decision.
Explain access before moving anything
Describe stairs, elevator arrangements, tight turns, gates, and carrying distance. Keep the items where they can be assessed safely; do not risk carrying a heavy piece outside just to make the request simpler. The quote should address where the work starts and who is doing the carrying and loading.
Keeping it changes the service
If a usable item is going to a different address, request moving and include the destination. Do not mix furniture intended for disposal with furniture you want delivered without identifying both lists. An individual-item transport quote is an alternative worth asking about when the job is one piece.
Make the removal scope unmistakable
For apartments or common areas, identify the building, unit, enclosure, or other exact location. Management should confirm authorization to dispose of the items. A hauling request does not decide ownership or authorize removal on its own.
Send the photos and access details with your preferred date. We confirm accepted items, labor, disposal arrangements, availability, and the complete quote. If you will do your own loading over time, compare a dumpster rental.
