Moving

Before Moving Day: A Checklist for the Agreed Job

Check the inventory, access, contacts, and written estimate before the crew arrives.

In This Guide
  1. Check the scope
  2. Check access at both addresses
  3. Check how the price applies
  4. Have a clear point of contact

Preparing for a move starts with making sure everyone is preparing for the same job. The item list, pickup and destination, crew, timing, and included services should match the written estimate. Use this checklist after the request has been reviewed, not as a substitute for booking confirmation.

Check the scope

  • Confirm the items and quantities being moved.
  • Identify anything staying behind or intended for separate disposal.
  • Tell us about additional stops and special handling concerns.
  • Confirm who is responsible for packing, preparation, and any work not already included.

Do not assume a task is included because it often appears in a general moving checklist. Ask for it to be addressed in your estimate.

Check access at both addresses

  • Arrange the agreed entrance, keys, and contact person.
  • Confirm building or elevator time windows.
  • Review parking and the carrying route.
  • Report any change in stairs, elevator availability, or location.

There is no benefit in hiding an access complication until arrival. It may affect the work, timing, or plan and is best discussed early.

Check how the price applies

For hourly work, confirm the agreed crew, man-hour calculation and minimum, billable start and finish, and time measurement. Confirm included vehicle, equipment, travel, and other charges. For an individual-item total, check that the item and route still match that quote.

Have a clear point of contact

Make sure someone can answer questions and approve any necessary scope change. Keep your confirmation and the applicable service documents available. If your needs have changed since the initial request, contact us rather than relying on the old description.

Need to begin? The proposed work-order form collects the details once and emails a copy to you for reference. See the current service terms for the provisions that apply to the actual service.

Based on Simply’s published service information. Job-specific pricing, scope, availability, and applicable documents are confirmed directly. Read the service terms.
